The Bear (2022)

Martin’s songwriting is bittersweet and reflective, full of musings on music and family and an uncertain future…A warmth radiates from The Bear…His friendly-raconteur approach to songwriting, his self-effacing humor, his weathered voice, his optimism and disinterest in fronting as cool—it’s all there. —Pitchfork

 The World at Night (2020)

Produced by multi-instrumental wizard and studio guru Josh Kaufman (Craig Finn, The National, Josh Ritter), the album is Martin’s most richly orchestrated and grandly cinematic collection to date, with sweeping strings and exuberant horns fleshing out his spare, understated vocal delivery.

Reminisce Bar & Grill (2018)

Reminisce Bar & Grill is the fourth solo album Walter Martin has recorded since his band the Walkmen split in 2013, and it’s one that might throw fans of his two award winning family albums for a loop. With frankness and poignancy, Martin, now a 43-year-old married man with two young children, squarely tackles the subject of adulthood specifically, his own.  Darkly humorous mid-life reflections on marriage, fatherhood, work and fear of death.
